Established in 1963, Semester at Sea is the only short term program of its kind in the world. In its nearly 50-year history, Semester at Sea has launched 111 voyages. More than 55,000 individuals representing 1,500 institutions have traveled to over 60 countries since the program’s inception. Using a ship as a traveling campus, students, faculty, staff and lecturers live and learn together on diverse and enriching itineraries. SAS has a notable English immersion program and provides an ideal environment for cross-cultural collaboration.
Semester at Sea offers international students scholarships. Scholarships are awarded by the Institute for Shipboard Education to help make the program a reality for all students regardless of financial status. Awards range from $1,000 to $10,000 in the spring and fall and $500 – $5000 in the summer.
