MSU, Mankato has begun to offer a one semester Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) for students with a TOEFL IBT of 45 or more (or equivalent) who otherwise meet academic requirements for admission. The program, which consists of two ESL courses that count as elective credit as well as 2 courses of general education courses, is intended to prepare students to take the TOEFL at the end of the program and achieve the minimum required score for full admission (500 on paper-based TOEFL or it’s equivalent). If you have students who are academically qualified but need a little more English language training, this could be the program for them! You can find detailed admission information at http://www.mnsu.edu/admissions/international/ and information about the IELI program is available at http://www.mnsu.edu/ieli/.
Please note that all new international undergraduate students at Minnesota State University, Mankato are automatically awarded the Cultural Contribution scholarship, which allows them to pay tuition at resident rates. Provided they meet criteria to maintain the scholarship, international undergraduates can expect to pay approximately $7532 per 2-semester academic year in tution and fees. More information about the scholarship is available at http://www.mnsu.edu/international/scholarship/instate.html.
